Letter to My Son: To the One Who Made Me a Mom

mothers day mini session

I remember sitting at home super pregnant and bored anxiously waiting your arrival.

The day you came into the world, was a day I’ll never forget. You changed my world forever. It took me a while to fully comprehend what had taken place. Suddenly it wasn’t just me and your Dad. We had this tiny little baby to look after. When you’re pregnant and especially with your first, everything is pretty much the same. You can still leave the house whenever you want, you can go out to events, you're lives are pretty much unchanged. Then overnight BOOM. You have this small, innocent little baby that depends on you.

Time is going by too fast, I’m constantly reminded of that with Facebook and Google photos . I want to freeze time, memorize your speech, your tiny fingers, tiny toes and facial expressions. But at the same time, I’m excited for the future. I can’t wait to see who you become.

Motherhood is something you can’t imagine until you experience it. “The nights are long, but the years are short”. Some days are so exhausting, I can’t wait for bedtime. But I know it won’t be like this for long. This is just a phase.

You’ve taught me how to be selfless, how to have patience and how to love unconditionally. I can’t imagine life without you and I can’t imagine loving another human as much as I love you. You've brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined.

My advice for soon to be mom’s: cherish these moments, write things down, take pictures, take videos. Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it.
